The number on a card is the length of the skirt measured on the garment, so a 13.5 or 14-inch skirt ends high on the thigh, 16 sits a hand above the knee on most heights, and the 19 and 20-inch skorts reach the knee. Under every one of them is a pair of shorts sewn in, which is what a skort is, and on most of the shelf those shorts carry the pockets: two, three or four on the tennis skirts and golf skorts, six on the cargo skorts. The pleated and scalloped skirts are the court pieces; the plainer skorts with a drawstring or a zip pocket are the ones people take to a golf course or on a walk.
