SANTINY Hiking Shorts

Nineteen pairs of quick-dry shorts with a drawstring and three to five pockets, most of them zipped and water-resistant: cargo shorts at 5, 7 and 9 inches, long hiking shorts at 13, 15 and 17, and golf shorts at 5 and 7.

  • 19 styles
  • 43 colourways
  • XS to 3XL size run
  • $19.99 to $34.99

Colourways on this page: Army Green, Navy, Dark Grey, Light Grey, Black, Dusty Blue, Khaki, Wine, and 35 more.

These are the shorts with the most pockets on the site, and the pockets are the reason to buy them: three to five to a pair, at least one of them zipped on fourteen of the nineteen models, sized so a phone lies flat on the thigh and a key does not fall out on a scramble. The cloth is a quick-dry woven rather than a knit, with a drawstring at the waist on most pairs, and eighteen of the nineteen print UPF 50+ on the label. Fourteen add a water-resistant finish that sheds a shower rather than a river.

The length runs from a 5-inch short that ends high on the thigh to a 17-inch long short that reaches the knee, with 7 and 9 as the two lengths most of the ratings are written about. The cargo pairs at 5, 7 and 9 are the ones with the side-leg pockets; the golf shorts at 5 and 7 are plainer; the long hiking shorts at 13, 15 and 17 have three zip pockets and no cargo flap. Sizes run XS to 3XL, and every pair sits at the waist or just below it. Take your usual letter for a walk and one up if you carry a full phone and keys in the pockets.

Every colourway here is priced on its own; the SANTINY kit bag keeps the figures current and the till is what decides.

Questions about SANTINY Hiking Shorts

The trail shorts

Which SANTINY hiking shorts have a pocket that fits your phone?

All of them, and on the cargo pairs the side-leg pocket is the one made for it: a phone in it lies flat against the thigh and does not swing. On the 13, 15 and 17-inch long shorts the three zip pockets are at the hip and the back, and a phone goes in the hip one. The card prints the count for each pair.

Are SANTINY hiking shorts waterproof enough for you to sit on wet grass?

The finish is water-resistant: it sheds a light shower and dries fast, and it lets water through if you sit in it, which is exactly the difference the wet bench will show you. The label says water-resistant and the card repeats the label.

Does the UPF 50+ on SANTINY hiking shorts protect your legs in the sun?

The figure means the dry cloth lets one fiftieth of the sun's UV through, the top band on the Skin Cancer Foundation's scale, and it covers the skin under the short and nothing below the hem. A pair that is wet through or stretched tight lets more through, and the source named on this page says so.
